"I played more of a No.8 today which I loved and obviously I'm still learning, I don't think I'm the best in there," he told BT Sport. "But I gave it my everything, I got on the ball as much as I could, tried to make things happen and I think it paid off.
"We created some chances and towards the end some key moments, Eddy saving that one off the line, if that goes in it's a different night and I don't know if we'd be stood here."
When asked to describe his emotions on the final whistle, Stones struggled to put his feelings into words. He continued: "Yeah 100 per cent [the win takes City to the next level], it was the thing we were missing.
