Jet2 and EasyJet have warned passengers of travel “disruption and delays” this half term due to French air traffic control strikes. Industrial action began on May 24 and is set to last until May 30, coinciding with school holidays in the UK.
The walkout is taking place at Paris Orly airport where over the weekend 70 per cent of its scheduled flights were cancelled. It comes only weeks away from the 2024 Olympics, which will be held in Paris this summer.
Although the strike action itself is taking place in France, flights passing through French airspace could be impacted. In a statement on its website, Jet2 said: “We wanted to let you know about strike action, supported by French Air Traffic Control on the 24th May 2024 to 30th May 2024, which may cause delays to flights travelling through French airspace. Rest assured, we'll try to keep any disruption to a minimum.

We expect there will be disruption and delays as a result to the industrial action, so we advise all customers to continue to check the status of their flight on Flight Tracker before travelling to the airport.
“Although this is outside of our control, we wish to reassure you that we are doing all we can to minimise any disruption to our flights that may occur as a result of the strike action.”
