Jeremy Renner, who has made a remarkable comeback from near-fatal injuries, says he’s now ready for another impossible mission. Or make that Mission: Impossible.
Renner played agent William Brandt in the 2011 film Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and the 2015 release Mission: Impossible -Rogue Nation.
But he then withdrew from the series. The reason, he says, is because of the birth of his daughter in 2013. After a brief marriage and divorce, Renner obtained split custody, which limited the amount of time he could devote to filming another Mission: Impossible, he said in an interview with Collider.
“I had to leave that,’ he said of the movie series. ‘I was supposed to do more with them. I love those guys. I love Tom so much.”
He added, “We had so much fun, and I love that character a lot. It requires a lot of time away. It’s all in London. I had to go be a dad. It just wasn’t gonna work out then.”
Since leaving, two more Mission: Impossible movies were released, and a third is scheduled to arrive in theaters next year.
Renner says he’d now be open to coming back because of his daughter Ava’s age.
“Maybe now that my daughter is older that could happen. I’d always jump into a Mission: Impossible anytime and back into Brandt. It’s great,”‘ he said.
