Selome Hailu Though Mayim Bialik was fired from the “Jeopardy!” flagship syndicated series in December, the door is still open to bring her back for other versions, according to executive producer Michael Davies. On a panel about unscripted television during ABC’s presentation at the Television Critics Assn. winter 2024 press tour, Davies said the decision to remove Bialik and keep Ken Jennings as solo host came from a pursuit of “more consistency.” “When I took over the show, we were forced into that situation,” said Davies, referring to the two-host setup.
“Over the past two and a half seasons, what we’ve heard from a lot of from television stations and other interested parties is that they wanted more consistency. They wanted a single host. “Mayim is a superb host,” he added.
“We hope to continue working with her on primetime versions — this conversation is ongoing.” Bialik in December announced her exit via social media. Her post, and then Sony Pictures Television’s statement about Bialik’s departure, emphasized that she would no longer host the syndicated version of “Jeopardy.” Neither made any reference to primetime versions of the franchise like “Celebrity Jeopardy,” which Bialik hosted alone for its first season (before passing duties to Ken Jennings in Season 2 due to the Hollywood strikes). “Celebrity Jeopardy” has not yet been renewed for a third season.
Bialik first joined “Jeopardy!” in 2021, serving as a guest host alongside Jennings after the quick exit of Mike Richards, who resigned just one week into his post due to the resurfacing of offensive comments he’d made in the past. Richards had also served as EP on “Jeopardy,” and also stepped down from that role. Davies took over as interim EP during this

Michaela Zee When “Dune: Part Two” star Stellan Skarsgård saw Austin Butler as the cruel and sadistic Feyd-Rautha for the first time, he laughed. “I laughed so much because it was so obvious that he really enjoyed being evil,” Skarsgård told Variety at the “Dune: Part Two” premiere Sunday night in New York City. Butler’s Feyd-Rautha is the younger nephew and heir of Skarsgård’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, who originally appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 sci-fi epic “Dune.” Butler studied Skarsgård’s voice performance in the first chapter to bring his version of Feyd-Rautha to life.
There have been many royal figures over the years who were born to carry out major roles but never had the opportunity to fulfil them for a variety of reasons. From being deposed to dying before they came to the throne, there are several examples to choose from. While the title Princess Charlotte of Wales conjures up an image of the Prince and Princess of Wales' eight-year-old daughter, there was someone with the same name who came before her who was destined to be Queen.
Austin Butler‘s breakout came from a Method acting performance for the ages in Baz Luhrmann‘s “Elvis,” with the actor living in the role on camera and off for about three years. But Butler wasn’t about to do that for Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in “Dune: Part Two“.

As always, the 2024 Sundance Film Festival gave us several likely Oscar nominees. Keiran Culkin for “A Real Pain,” documentaries “Union” or “Daughters“,” and, potentially, Sebastian Stan for “A Different Man.” But there was no Best Picture player in the vein of “Past Lives” or “CODA” in Park City last month, at least, there didn’t seem to be.
Immense, remarkably captivating, imposing, and right on the edge of overblown, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” is a spectacular blockbuster epic in the grandest sense of the tradition. Picking up where ‘Part One’ left off, this darker, bleaker, moodier sequel is a grand war movie but also a devastating cautionary tale about messiahs, idolatry, and the dangers of false gods.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Austin Butler was hospitalized after he wrapped filming on Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis,” and it appears it was something of a miracle he avoided a similar fate on the set of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.” The Oscar nominee joins the epic franchise as Feyd-Rautha, the cruel and sadistic younger nephew of and heir to Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård). Butler told Entertainment Weekly that heat stroke impacted several people on set during his first week of shooting. How’s that for a welcome? “It was 110 degrees and so hot,” Butler said.

Mayim Bialik was axed as the co-host of “Jeopardy!” because the show needed more “consistency” with current host Ken Jennings, showrunner Michael Davies revealed to reporters.“When I took over the show, we were really forced into that situation from everything that happened before, the guest-hosting period,” Davies said at the annual Television Critics Association Press Tour on Saturday. The NBC game show rotated in hosts following the death of iconic host Alex Trebek in November 2020 at the age of 80 after battling pancreatic cancer.“Mayim was left hosting the primetime versions; I brought in Ken to guest-host once Mayim had her schedule on her Fox sitcom,” Davies said, alluding to Bialik’s Fox series “Call Me Kat,” which premiered in January 2021.“Over the past two-and-a-half seasons, what we’ve heard from a lot of television stations and other interested parties is that they wanted more consistency,” Davies said.
