An occupation protest in Portland meant to prevent the eviction of a Black and Indigenous family has entered into its third day Thursday, as individuals in black and wearing ski masks continued to fortify makeshift barriers blocking several city blocks around the so-called Red House on Mississippi Ave.

A group of protesters barricaded in Portland, Ore., in and around what’s known as the “Red House” seemed to be setting up for a long fight, a guest told Tucker Carlson on Wednesday night.

Protesters in Portland have defiantly fortified their position at the “Red House on Mississippi” after Mayor Ted Wheeler on Tuesday authorized police to use "all lawful means" in ending the illegal occupation at the home.  By Wednesday, occupiers had stockpiled defensive gear and laid down booby traps aimed to keep officers out, including piles of rocks and homemade spike strips to puncture the tires of any vehicles that could breach the barricades, according to reports.  Protesters have rallied

The police chief in Portland, Ore.,  wants demonstrators attempting to block the eviction of a Black and Indigenous family to put down their weapons and leave the barricade so that the standoff with officers can end and the neighborhood can return to peace and order. “We are aware of the stockpile of weapons, and the presence of firearms,"  Chief Chuck Lovell said in a prepared statement. "We are aware of the threats to the community, to media, to police.

The Portland police chief said Wednesday that he remained "greatly concerned" about an area occupied by demonstrators attempting to block the eviction of a Black and Indigenous family, explaining that individuals have stockpiled weapons, assigned armed guards and spray-painted threats to kill police officers at the so-called Red House on Mississipi Avenue.  “We want a peaceful & safe resolution to the occupation of public space on N Mississippi Ave,” Chief Chuck Lovell said on Twitter Wednesday.
