James Haskell has opened up about how attending an all boys boarding school impacted his attitude towards women, admitting he's "still learning". The former rugby player, 38, sat down for a revealing interview with Unfiltered, where he spoke about everything from his career and upbringing to his family life with wife Chloe Madeley and their baby daughter Bodhi. James, who was recently pictured with a mystery woman, candidly spoke about his relationship with women and how spending his younger years in a male-dominated environment had impacted his views and thoughts.
He said not being exposed to women caused him to view them as "sex objects" but he has kept "learning". "I went to an all boys prep school, all boys boarding school and was around 25 men every year for 19 and a half seasons. I didn't go to university.
Would you say I was probably the most broad minded person in that respect? "No, I think there's a reason why sexism is probably as bad as it is because of all boys boarding schools," James said. He continued: "Truthfully, I think what other exposures do you have to women other than as sex objects? You may have female teachers and a strong mother, but otherwise how you're not exposed to in any other way, shape, or form." James went on to say that he would never send his daughter to a same-sex school due to his own experiences, but looking back he doesn't regret going to an all boys school as it gave him "confidence and opportunities and stuff". He went on to to admit he's had to "learn" a lot of things as he's got older, adding: "It's fine.
But you asked me about my view on women, have I had to learn and unwind a lot of things? Yeah, of course. As long as you keep learning. I think that's why I find it so stupid
