Jameela Jamil wants a part in ‘Star Wars’

Puck news was just taking Lucasfilm and its President Kathleen Kennedy to task today, basically asking what the hell is up with that studio and its lack of studio movies. The answer might be read as, especially in the face of tonight’s news, a lot of things they didn’t know.

Earlier today, it was announced that Damon Lindelof and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy are teaming up to work on a new “Star Wars” film. This just adds to the general confusion surrounding the franchise, at least on the film side of things, as we have yet to get a firm announcement about which “Star Wars” feature will arrive in 2025 (if any).

Back in 2019, it was announced by the folks in charge at Disney that the “Star Wars” franchise would take a break on the film side of things after the release of ‘Rise of Skywalker.’ But even then, you have to assume the executives didn’t imagine we’d be waiting at least until 2025 for a new film in the galaxy far, far away. EXCLUSIVE: Following months of speculation, Deadline is now hearing from several sources close to the project that only is Damon Lindelof developing a new Star Wars film for Lucasfilm but that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been set as director. Lindelof is co-writing the project, though it is unknown at this time who his writing partner might be. Insiders say the script is still being written which means production is likely far out. That said, sources add it was important to Lucasfilm and Lindelof that a director be brought on so that their own vision for where they see this story headed gets included in the script.

Today Walt Disney Records releases the digital soundtrack for Lucasfilm‘s live-action series “Andor,” premiering on Disney+ now. The new album “Andor: Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4) (Original Score)” features music from three-time Oscar and Emmy-nominated composer Nicholas Britell composed for the show.

Displayed outside of their Benicia, California, shop, Hanalee (who served as the sculpture’s model) told the New York Times, “People are just super interested by it, and you see people smelling it and poking it and they’re just like, ‘What is going on?’ They kind of don’t believe you that it’s made out of dough.”A California bakery spent a month making a 6-foot recreation of Han Solo frozen in carbonite, made entirely of bread.
