Fans have been left reeling following Tuesday night's episode of Love Island. The popular ITV reality dating series returned on Monday night, with a fresh batch of singles looking for love.
Viewers and the couples were stunned when host Maya Jama announced the first bombshell of the series was none other than TOWIE star Joey Essex. He was tasked with 'stealing' one of the girls, leaving their partner vulnerable to an exit fate.
Following Tuesday's firepit, those tuning in were left outraged to say goodbye to fan favourite, hairdresser Sam Taylor. The Celebs Go Dating star had grown close to a few of the girls in the villa, but decided on Liverpool's bubbly beauty Samantha.
This left her partner Sam being immediately dumped from the Island, in a brutal text at the firepit. Fans soon took to social media to vent their anger at ITV bosses for not giving him a second chance, as ex-Islanders also pleaded to bring him back.
Joey announced at the firepit: "I've decided to couple up with this girl because I feel like my 24 hours with her in the villa have been the most flirtatious.... I had to go with my heart and I feel like it was the right decision."
Speaking after the dumping, Sam said: "I’m disappointed to be leaving so soon as I wanted to work my magic and get to know everyone a bit better. When Joey walked in I had a feeling I might be in trouble. Samantha is a stunning girl and I knew that they would get on.
"We were all buzzing, it was so nice to meet him, he’s such a big character, it was great getting to know him. Ultimately, he had to do what he had to do which didn’t work in my favour but no hard feelings."
