A popular Italian sandwich shop in Ancoats will be giving out 9p sandwiches this week to celebrate the ninth birthday of the Deliveroo app.
Ad Maiora, which has served up delights for the likes of Manchester City players Mateo Kovacic and Erling Haaland, has partnered with the delivery app for the special occasion to create a very limited edition ‘scran-wich’ sandwich weighing more than 500 grams.
The sandwich will feature nine special elements inspired by Manchester, including spicy ‘supersonic’ salami, ‘nowt better’ N’duja and mozzarella ‘footballs’. If that’s enough, there will also be sliced Haçienda heritage tomatoes, ‘r kid’ Italian wild rocket, ‘0161’ olives, lashings of ‘mad fer it’ mayonnaise, ‘buzzing bee’ basil leaves and ‘let’s ave it’ red onions.

The filling will all be perfectly all sandwiched together between fresh homemade Schiacciata bread. Ad Maiora’s owners Enrico and Daniela said it took them weeks to develop the perfect combination and balance of flavours.
They explained: “We’ve had so much support from the local community since we launched, so we were very excited when Deliveroo asked us to create a special Ad Maiora sandwich dedicated to the city of Manchester in celebration of their 9th birthday.
“We hope our customers love the limited-edition ‘Scran-wich’ - we’ve really enjoyed creating a sandwich that celebrates our city which makes this SUPER limited edition and special!”
Ad Maiora, on Radium Street, will offer up the special 9p sandwich exclusively through Deliveroo from Tuesday (April 30) until Thursday (May 2) between 10am and 5pm. Only 300 will be made in total - with 100 sandwiches
