Some fans think that Drake might be throwing shade at Rihanna on his new album For All The Dogs.
The LP arrived on Friday (October 6), and fans discovered what appear to be references to his time with the “Diamonds” diva in the song “Fear of Heights.”
If you forgot, Drake and Rihanna have collaborated multiple times over the years and were romantically linked for a time in 2016. That year, he professed his love to her for the world to see while onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards.
They have since gone their separate ways, and in 2018 Rihanna said that they were no longer friends. Drake seemingly referenced her in an interview a year later.
Now, it looks like he might be looking back on their time together in his lyrics. One verse in particular features what might be a few shady digs at the pop icon.
Head inside to listen to the song and see why fans think it’s about Rihanna…
“Why they make it sound like I’m still hung up on you,” Drake asks at the start of the song. “That could never be me / Gyal can’t ruin me / Better him than me / Better it’s not me.”
After being very vocal about his love for Rihanna, rumors about his feelings for her have been a regular topic of discussion amongst fans. She is one of the women he is most commonly associated with dating.
Also, the use of “gyal” might be a reference to Rihanna, who goes by @badgalriri on Instagram.
Drake continues, saying that he is “anti.” Some think it might be a reference to Rihanna‘s last studio album, which was titled Anti.
He then slams his sex life with the partner, rapping, “Yeah, and the sex was average with you / Yea, I’m anti ’cause I had it with you.” Later, he proclaims “I had way badder b-tches than you, TBH.”
There were also references to his ex

not the way to take care of Rihanna. After Drake was long rumored to have an on-again, off-again relationship with Rihanna while the two superstars cozied on up the charts together for some iconic collabs — from 2010’s “What’s My Name?” and 2016’s “Work” to, most memorably (for this critic), 2011’s “Take Care” — Drizzy certain seems to be in his salty feelings on his new album “For All the Dogs.”Dropping at 6 a.m. Friday morning instead of the usual midnight (Note to Drake: Please don’t go all Kanye on us with this last-minute release shuffling), the 23-track, 85-minute epic — which would have been a damn triple LP back in the day — appears to address Ri-Ri on the already-viral cut “Fear of Heights.”And when we say “appears,” well, the trolling track packs all of the subtlety of his recent barretted-up hair-don’t that had him looking like Tempest Bleddsoe aka Vanessa Huxtable from “The Cosby Show.”Over a spooky groove to set it off, Drake — who was rumored to not be having it when Rihanna boo’d and then baby’d up with A$AP Rocky — sure sounds like a bitter ex when he opens with, “Why they make it sound like I’m still hung up on you?/That could never be/Gyal can’t be me/Better him than me/Better it’s not me.”The way that “gyal” appropriates Caribbean slang for “girl” leaves little doubt that he’s talking about the Barbadian beauty.
