Amanda Holden has responded to rumours that she has donned her spandex and hit the dancefloor for this year’s series of The Masked Dancer as Scissors. Speaking on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston, the actress, 51, was grilled by Ashley Roberts about her inclusion in the second series of the hit show, which began last week. ‘I couldn’t possibly say, could I!’ the star responded.
Ashley gave her reasoning for the theory it is Amanda behind the costume, pointing out that the media personality previously starred in a series called Cutting It. Amanda also spoke about other clues given about the mystery dancer who dazzled fans of the show as well as the judges with their routine during the first episode. ‘A bowl of cereal I think is a clue…and…a, I can’t think of what else, but I know the rumours have been that it’s me,’ she said, adding that apparently, the person behind Scissors has also been on tour.
However, some have theorised it could in fact be former Pussycat Doll Ashley that is behind the costume. Fans have referenced a video shown before Scissors took to the stage in which she was heard speaking in an American accent. Although she now lives in London, 40-year-old Ashley is originally from Phoenix, Arizona.
During the show, a member of the crew was seen walking around with a bowl of cereal, which has been said could be a reference to Ashley working on Heart FM’s Breakfast Show. Amanda and Ashley are not the only stars who have been rumoured to be Scissors as fans of the show have also speculated whether Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall is the character. Scissors was seen in the first clue package standing behind a bar, with fans on social media pointing out that Jade, 29, has a venue called Arbeia in South Shields.
