The Irn Bru Twitter account has rebranded as Haggis Soda for the day after Steve Carell gave the drink a try for the first time. The actor also gave the beloved drink his seal of approval.
In an interview promoting Minions: The Rise of Gru , which is out today, Carell was tasked with tasting and giving his thoughts on British snacks. When he gets to Irn Bru in the video, it is described to him as "the drink of Scotland."
The interviewer adds: "and they love it... and it's orange." Carell then quips in the LadBible video: "So it's haggis soda?"
Quite a few took notice of his interesting name for the drink, including Irn Bru themselves, posting a Tweet saying: "Tempted to change our username to Haggis Soda for a day". It turns out they meant what they said as shortly after the Irn Bru Twitter account proudly brandished it's new temporary name: Haggis Soda.
As for his taste test, Carell loved it - immediately saying after his first sip: "Oh I like that a lot actually, yeah I think that's delicious!"
The star of The Office added: "I like how it lingers on the tongue." He then Jokes: "I can't believe that I'm talking about it like I'm a wine connoisseur." Carell said that he likes the drink better than Mountain Dew.
Scots were buckled with the rebranding with one on Twitter saying: That's it, @scotgov give @SteveCarell the key to the city. I don't care which one but he's earned it." Another joked: "the dedication to this tweet."
Another suggested an even more Scottish name, calling it: "Haggis, neeps and tatties soda".
