Spanish-language media giant Univision Communications, a couple of days after unveiling a deal that will see an investor group led by former Viacom CFO Wade Davis acquire a 64 percent stake in it, on Thursday said it swung to a fourth-quarter profit amid higher revenue and lower expenses.

As former Viacom CFO Wade Davis, the founder of ForgeLight, gets set to become later this year CEO of Univision Communications, the Miami-based Spanish language broadcast giant, he talked to The Hollywood Reporter about his plans to capitalize on the fast-growing Latino demo in the news, sports, entertainment and music spaces.

An investor group led by former Viacom CFO Wade Davis has agreed to acquire a 64 percent majority stake in Spanish-language media giant Univision Communications for an undisclosed sum. The group is made up of private equity firm Searchlight Capital and media- and consumer technology-focused operating and investment company ForgeLight, which Davis launched as CEO in December after leaving Viacom due to its recombination with CBS to form ViacomCBS.

Two investment firms said they would buy a majority stake in Univision, the nation’s biggest Spanish-language broadcaster, setting up a new era for the large broadcasting company at a time when traditional media entities are grappling with new ways to reach large audiences.
