With ITV drama Grantchester back on our screens on Thursday 11 January, viewers will see detective duo DI Geordie Keating and Reverend Will Davenport attempt to solve a new bunch of murders. But alongside the two leads, played by Robson Green and Tom Brittney, a host of familiar faces from previous seasons will be returning. Among those is Charlotte Ritchie, who is known for playing Bonnie Evans.
The niece of Cathy Keating, Bonnie was a widow and single mum to little Ernie, though tied the knot in series seven after meeting Will and the couple are now expecting their first child together.
Away from the ITV drama, Grantchester viewers may be familiar with Bonnie actress Charlotte, 34, who has appeared in shows including Fresh Meat, Ghosts and Call The Midwife. For years, reports circulated that Charlotte had a famous family. For a time being, if you typed ‘Charlotte Ritchie mum’ into Google, it said that she was related to Grey’s Anatomy actress Kate Burton.
However, Harry Potter star Charlotte has since cleared up the confusion and a few years ago took to Twitter, as it was called at the time, to reply to a fan who’d asked her about her ‘famous’ mum. “I genuinely don’t know where this came from. My own mother is not famous but bloody should be,” she replied.
It seems that some people have also presumed that Charlotte's grandad is late actor Richard Burton. During her time on Twitter, the TV star wrote in her bio: “Richard Burton is not my grandad.” While acting may be her day job, Charlotte’s talents don’t end there. Prior to getting into acting, she attended a private school in Dulwich before studying English Literature at Bristol University where she spent her free time working on music as part of the group All Angels.
