A true crime documentary about the tragic disappearance of Gabby Petito has been released today (Thursday, May 9) on ITVX.
The three-part series follows the investigation into the mystery case of the 22-year-old video blogger who went missing while on a road trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie in 2021. The documentary, The Disappearance of Gaby Petito, includes interviews with Gabby's parents who reveal their heartbreak and internet sleuths who tried to uncover the truth behind her disappearance.
Her story captivated the US after the couple's "dream trip" turned into a living nightmare and for a long time, the question on everyone's minds was: what happened to Gabby? Who is Gabby Petito and what happened? Gabby was a 22-year-old video blogger who went on a road trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, which they had described as their "dream trip".
They started their journey on July 2, 2021, when they left Blue Point, New York and travelled cross-country, touring national parks in Colorado and Utah.
The couple documented their "Van Life" adventure on social media and YouTube. On August 24, 2021, Gabby was last seen leaving a hotel with Brian in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Her family lost contact and on September 11, 2021, they reported Gabby as missing.
Tragically a few weeks later on September 19, her body was discovered in a national park in Wyoming, US. Who killed Gaby? Her fiancé, Brian was a prime suspect in her death after he returned home to Florida without her - before Gabby's body was found.
At the time the police had described him as a "person of interest" because he was thought to have been the last person to have seen Gabby. But in a shocking turn of events, Brian also disappeared and his body was found in October 2021
