An inquest has opened into the death of a cyclist who was killed in the early hours of the morning.
Charles Lewis, known as Charlie, was riding his bike on Hyde Road in Gorton on June 2 when he was hit by a black Saab at around 1.45am.
The 56-year-old was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary in critical condition but despite desperate attempts to save his life, he died.

jail after he killed a dad-of-three in a road collision.John Crozier, who only has one eye, did not spot "kind, thoughtful and clever" cyclist Robert Eaves when his car smashed into him in an incident last year.The father tragically passed away as a result of his extensive injuries following the crash. Crozier, who is from Warrington, now suffers from "sleepless nights" and refuses to ever drive a vehicle again, Manchester Magistrates' Court heard.
