Immigration activists dismayed at Biden move to expand Title 42 to Venezuelan illegal migrants

The Biden administration announced moves this week to tackle a surge in Venezuelan migration across the southern border, but the combination of an expansion of Title 42 expulsions and a new humanitarian parole path has upset lawmakers and activists on both the right and the left. The Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday that it is launching a new large-scale border enforcement operation with Mexico combined with an expansion of removals of Venezuelan nationals. The campaign will see Mexico and the U.S.

The United States could become more closely united with Canada and Mexico as there are reportedly negotiations in the works between the Biden administration and these countries to form a European Union-like agreement, according to Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz. Gaetz, R-FL, told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Friday that he was made aware of the backdoor talks by Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and said he has personally reached out to Secretary of State Antony Blinken for more information.

A large group of Venezuelans expelled from the United States and sent to Mexico under a new Homeland Security policy protested at the border Friday, causing officials to briefly close an international bridge leading to Texas. The protesters gathered in Matamoros, Mexico, which sits across from Brownsville, Texas. Many on the left are up in arms after the governors of Texas, Arizona and Florida began sending illegal aliens to sanctuary cities.The big city mayors of Washington, D.C., New York and Chicago complained when buses of several thousand illegal aliens arrived over a period of a few months, an amount equal to what small border towns are forced to contend with on a daily basis. But when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis flew 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, it sent them over the edge.

Texas authorities nabbed 15 illegal immigrants during a recent attempt to smuggle them into the United States as they bailed out of the vehicle and tried to flee. Dashcam and bodycam footage released by the Texas Department of Public Safety shows an Oct. 7 vehicle chase in Kingsville between the alleged smuggler in a work truck and DPS troopers.

The latest revelations about the year-long controversy over false claims that Border Patrol agents "whipped" or "strapped" Haitian migrants are likely to exacerbate already sour relations between Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and agents. Fox News reported Tuesday how Mayorkas was told hours before a White House press conference in September 2021 that the photographer who captured a clash between Border Patrol agents and Haitian migrants in Del Rio, Texas, days earlier had said that the incident was being misconstrued.

A group of roughly 30 Venezuelan migrants were surprised to learn that they will be returned to Mexico under a new Department of Homeland Security policy announced on Wednesday.  Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins approached the migrants in Eagle Pass, Texas, shortly after they were apprehended on Thursday.  "Did you know Venezuelans will be returned to Mexico now?" Left-leaning outlets have ignored the latest development in the debunked story about Border Patrol agents supposedly whipping Haitian migrants, despite previously parroting the claim.  According to a Sept 24, 2021 email obtained by the Heritage Foundation, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was told that the photographer who captured a clash between Border Patrol agents and Haitian migrants in Del Rio had said that the incident was being misconstrued. But hours before, Mayorkas attended a White House press conference where he failed to challenge the false narrative, pushed by other members of the Biden administration, including the president himself.

One Texas rancher called out the Biden administration for changing border policies ahead of the midterm election, after extending an invitation to the president to witness the crisis. Laura Allen, who has a ranch in Val Verde County, joined "Fox & Friends First" Thursday to discuss the invitation and her reaction to the White House sending Venezuelan migrants who entered the U.S.

Three illegal immigrants caught and released at the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as a fourth person, a U.S. citizen previously released on cashless bail, have been charged in New York’s Long Island for carrying out a hate-fueled robbery ring allegedly targeting members of the Indian community.  Brayan Alexis Ortiz-Ramos, 20, Daniel Esteban Jimenez-Carrillo, 30, Gersson Jhoan Hernandez-Gomez, 33, all born and raised in Columbia, as well as Justin Mora-Soto, 20, who was born in the U.S.

The head of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) claims that moves by Republican governors to transport illegal immigrants deeper into the interior are acting as a "pull factor" drawing more migrants to the border. Republican governors have been sending migrants north since April, when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott started busing them to Washington, D.C.

Officials in New York City say that a man jumped from a luxury hotel in Times Square on Friday, which was being planned by Mayor Eric Adams to be used to house migrants. A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department said that officers responded to a 911 call of an unconscious person on Friday at 11:24 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, the spokesperson said that a 38-year-old man was found in front of the Row hotel and said that he had injuries "indicative from a fall from an elevated position." Emergency medical workers pronounced the man dead.
