In 2022, the company relocated from its original flagship in Chinatown to a brighter, larger space at the South Street Seaport, whose two floors boast views of the Brooklyn Bridge. These New York roots are what made the Bronx-bred rapper Ice Spice the perfect fit as the star of the luxury brand’s newest campaign, launched Thursday morning.
In celebration of their S24 collection, named Nocturna, the campaign fuses fashion and rap, capturing Ice Spice in the brand’s staple ready-to-wear pieces including leather, hotfix denim and the latest in their Dome program. “As an artist, I’m always challenging myself on how I can contribute to culture in a way that drives things forward, and Alexander Wang is a great vehicle for that with this incredibly bold and global campaign,” Ice Spice said in a statement.
Wang added to her statement, writing that “Ice Spice is such a powerhouse, a cultural touchstone, and a breath of fresh air. Her unapologetic energy magnifies the sharp and austere sensuality of Spring 2024 and leans into our brand codes on a deeper level.” Because Wang did not show at this season’s New York Fashion Week, the campaign serves as one of the first mainstream introductions to his newest collection, whose black and leather-heavy pieces include loose-fitting pants, exposed underwear, leather bra tops and cropped jean jackets.
