‘I went on Love Island and I know why Jess and Sammy won - it didn’t surprise me’

Former Love Island star Olivia Hawkins is back for her final show column with OK!, after Monday night's final revealed Jess Harding and Sammy Root as the winners. The pair's victory surprised some viewers, after many thought that show-favourite Whitney Adebayo was sure to storm to first place, and win the £50,000 cash prize, with her partner, Lochan Nowacki.
Many fans have even gone as far as to slam Love Island as a 'fix' after Jess and Sammy won, but ITV have now put those claims to bed as they revealed the voting figures, which saw Jess and Sammy receive 34.57% of the whole vote, whereas Whitney and Lochan got 26.85%. Third place couple Ella Thomas and Tyriqye Hyde were close with 24.21%, whilst Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble came in fourth place with 14.37% of the public vote.
For the past eight weeks, OK!'s fabulous Love Island columnist Olivia has been bringing us her take on all the trials and tribulations in the Majorcan villa, and now she's giving her final thoughts on the stellar summer series... At the start of their time on the show, I had reservations about each of them, but I think they're both actually genuine people - and their journey on the show has been real and honest. Sammy has really matured in there, and his final night speech he mentioned winning over Jess' mum, which was really sweet.
I know that a lot of the public were shocked that Jess and Sammy won, because everyone thought it was going to be Whitney. Whitney was amazing on the show, but it's not Personality Island, it's Love Island, and her and Lochan were the least progressed in their relationship of
