When we're in love, it can be tempting to spend all your time with your other half.
Typically, you enjoy being around the other person and feel like a part of you is missing when they're not there. But this isn't the case for everyone. In fact, one introvert revealed she has been trying to get some much-needed space from her partner.
But by doing so, she was accused of being unfaithful to her boyfriend. So she took to Reddit for advice on the situation, which left her feeling "smothered" and "suffocated" by her boyfriend. So much so that she broke up with him – only to make the same excuse with other people she dated.
In a candid post, she wrote: "I'm not even in a relationship right now, and I'm still doing it... I can't seem to stop. I'm really introverted and need more alone time than most people.
It's easier to pretend to be at work than to say I don't feel like hanging out." In response, many reassured the woman that they'd done similar in the past. One person wrote: "I thought I was the only one! It's like my secret superpower for avoiding social obligations without the guilt trip." Another agreed, commenting: "I do that too. I don't have any close friends but sometimes meeting other people is too much for me." While a third added: "This is a pretty easy way to get out of the social awkwardness etc.
