A mum-of-two has revealed how she rediscovered herself by seeing the world alone - saying she doesn't care if other mums judge her for travelling without her children.
Colleen Smith says she finds solo travel "liberating" while her young children are cared for by her parents and their dad back at home.
Since separating from her partner back in 2022, the former housewife has been on solo trips to Portugal, Spain, Morocco and Peru - believing other mums judge her for her free-spirited nature.

But the 37-year-old says it teaches her children, aged eight and five, how to be independent and she looks forward to spending quality time with them whenever she returns home.
Colleen has plans to visit Chile and South Africa in 2024 and for safety she says she likes to use group travel company, WeRoad, a solo adventure travel firm which recently launched in Manchester.
Colleen, who lives in County Durham and runs a dog grooming business, said: "Travelling on my own within the safety of an organised tour has given me so much independence and confidence.
"It doesn't feel like you are travelling with a business with WeRoad. Their passion shows in everything we do and the adventure is shared with the coordinators."
Colleen says she has come a long way in two years. Since separating from her husband, the mum made the choice to invest in her passions as she had always aspired to travel the world from a young age.
She said: "As a girl I was told I couldn't travel alone, that it wasn't safe. So I settled down and I had this life as a housewife but I was home while I saw my partner getting to do all the things he wanted.
