A well-known cruise expert has shared some top tips on TikTok to help holidaymakers choose the best cabin for their cruise ship adventure.
Preston, who runs the TikTok page @ship_facts, regularly posts short videos with handy hints to help tourists make the most of their sea voyages - and also shows off special features on the newest cruise ships.
In a recent video, Preston highlighted the importance of picking the right cabin - also known as a stateroom - based on several factors, reports the Express.
He explained in the video: "Choose your stateroom wisely based on factors such as location, view, and proximity to amenities."
"Consider whether you prefer a cabin with a balcony, ocean view or an interior [cabin]."
In his video, Preston warned tourists not to book the first cabin they see, pointing out that nearly all cruise ships offer a variety of different types of cabins at different prices.
The most affordable places to stay on a cruise are interior cabins which are situated in the middle of the ship and don't have a window.
Guests willing to spend a bit more can opt for an ocean view cabin, which comes with a porthole-style window, or a balcony cabin, where passengers can relax in the open air.
However, tourists planning to book a cruise should also think about which deck their cabin is on - as higher decks often come with higher price tags.
Usually many of the ship's features, like the buffet and swimming pools, are found on one of the top decks. However if you're someone who gets seasick easily, it's best to avoid booking a cabin on a higher deck as they tend to move more than other parts of the ship.
