A single mum has decided to live in a tent with her two children in order to be "close to the ground".
Lucy Aura, 41, spent the previous five months living in a tent full-time after being unable to afford rent for a property. The yoga teacher says "nature was calling" her and prefers being "close to the ground" instead of a "constricted" modern house.
Lucy, who left London for Australia, says she lets her kids, aged five and seven, run around barefoot and claims they love having a campfire every night for "entertainment". She only pays £51 a week for her pitch and power on a home-owners land.
Lucy, who is now living in Kuranda, in Queensland, said: “I didn’t have money to have my own place. Nature was calling me.
“I surrendered to my path and moved into a tent. It has been pretty challenging sharing a small space with the kids, but they love it. I don’t want to put my money into a rental.
“I love to be more connected to the earth. I want to be close to the ground.”
Lucy left for Australia in 2011 when she became tired of the "working and partying lifestyle". She added: "I had an urge to go an explore.”
After travelling around the country, she settled in Queensland where she met the father of her children. The couple split in 2020 and Lucy was forced to sell her house while struggling to afford a new place.
She eventually moved into a farm in Kurana with her children but says they were asked to move by the owners due to her son's behaviour. Lucy said: “My son is overwhelming and emotional – I allow him to be. People don’t like that.”
She said she has been on a “deep spiritual journey” for the last two years and said she is “trusting in the journey”.
Speaking about how she enjoys being among nature, she added: "You can
