The 52-year-old is in a critical condition in a London hospital having been diagnosed with the highly infectious coronavirus seven weeks ago.
Good Morning Britain presenter Kate has been keeping the public up-to-date on his condition and last night she revealed she FaceTimed her partner during the touching Clap for Carers ritual at 8pm.

Taking to Instagram after taking part in Clapping for Carers, which she does every Thursday, the Good Morning Britain presenter revealed that she and her children had been able to FaceTime Derek in the evening, adding: "of course we can’t know but I believe he can hear us".
