The stylist—who first came up through Tumblr before modeling for Marc Jacobs and Helmut Lang, and was hired as fashion director at Mel Ottenberg’s Interview magazine—is, at least in part, the reason why Schafer is considered one of the best-dressed women in the world.Consider the feathered bralette that Schafer wore to the , taken from Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s erstwhile tenure at Ann Demeulemeester; the she wore to the London premiere of The Hunger Games, which had been plucked from Prada’s spring/summer 2009 archive; and the paint-encrusted bodycon she wore to the film’s Berlin debut, pulled from Daniel Roseberry’s spring/summer 2023 couture proposal at Schiaparelli.

Why ‘From Hilde, With Love’ Director Made Nazi-Era Berlin Seem Almost ‘Normal’: ‘I Wanted to Bring It Closer to Our Reality’

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor When Laila Stieler’s script for “From Hilde, With Love,” which world premiered Saturday in competition at the Berlinale, first came to director Andreas Dresen he was a little reluctant to take the project on. The issue was not the script but the subject-matter: set in Nazi-era Berlin, “From Hilde, With Love” is a love story about two real life members of the pro-Communist, German resistance movement known as the Red Orchestra, Hilde and Hans Coppi. More than 50 members of the group were guillotined in Berlin’s Plötzensee Prison between 1942 and 1943, including the Coppis.

Where is original Keeping Up Appearances cast now? From tragic death to rare outing with Queen Camilla

It’s hard to believe it’s almost 30 years since iconic British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances came to an end, with the irreverent comedy still holding a firm place in many TV watchers hearts. The popular BBC show ran from 1990 to 1995 and featured Dame Patricia Routlegede in the title role of Hyacinth Bucket. The snobbish central character soon became a firm fan favourite, particularly for her insistence that her surname Bucket was actually pronounced “Bouquet”in an attempt to make herself sound more refined.

‘Cuckoo’ Review: A Superb Hunter Schafer is Menaced by a Loopy Dan Stevens in a Stylish, Enjoyably Incoherent Horror Romp

Jessica Kiang Expanding on the scope of his impressive but constrained 2018 debut (the demonic-possession-meets-therapeutic-improv-exercise “Luz”) while retaining that film’s bird-flipping attitude toward unnecessary niceties like coherent plotting or narrative logic, German director Tilman Singer makes what ought to be his breakthrough with “Cuckoo” an energetically outlandish fusion of stylish atmospherics, old-school reproductive horror and pro-flickknife advertorial. The profile of this highly enjoyable, unashamedly convoluted creepfest will be further raised by “Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer‘s terrific Final Girl performance and by Dan Stevens‘ hilariously eccentric villain, the second recent showcase for Stevens’ excellent spoken German after Maria Schrader’s “I’m Your Man.” Few are the films and fewer are the actors that can get such sinister mileage out of a character’s insistently Teutonic, semi-sibilant mispronunciation of the name “Gretchen.” Gretchen, aka “Ggrraaytshayn” (Schafer) appears, initially, to be the cuckoo.

Hunter Schafer Celebrates First Lead Role in Berlin Horror Film ‘Cuckoo’: ‘The Training Wheels Are Off, Babe’

Ellise Shafer After making her acting debut as trans teen Jules in HBO’s hit series “Euphoria” in 2019, Hunter Schafer found herself in high demand. But as she flipped through scripts, only one gave the 25-year-old what she calls “the sparkly feeling”: Tilman Singer’s horror film “Cuckoo.” Schafer auditioned and was cast as Gretchen, an angsty and isolated 17-year-old who is forced to move with her father, stepmother and young stepsister to a resort in Germany, where she soon learns that things are not as they seem.
