South Park is back with a new extended special, The End Of Obesity.Since 2021, the animated show has released several specials a year outside of the traditional season format – with the last being Not Suitable For Children which parodied OnlyFans and social media influencers like Logan Paul.The first special in 2024 tackles weight loss drugs like Ozempic, along with the US healthcare system.A synopsis for the episode reads: “The advent of new weight loss drugs has a huge impact on everyone in South Park. When Cartman is denied access to the life-changing medicine, the kids jump into action.”The special will be released on Saturday May 25 on Paramount+.
The streaming service, which costs £6.99 a month in the UK, usually adds new episodes at 8am BST.In the US, the episode will be available a day earlier on Friday May 24.While there’s no specific release date for season 27, more episodes are in the pipeline. The show was renewed through to 2027 back in 2021, which guarantees it will continue through to season 30.Along with these traditional episodes, more extended specials are also planned, with two expected to drop every year on Paramount+ through to 2027.Since the show began in 1997, South Park has spawned a feature film along with various video games, including South Park: Snow Day!

Does it really need to be set in Sacramento? “At one point we were ready to shoot the movie in Atlanta — we had the financing and everything,” remembers Angarano, who directed the film, as well as co-wrote it. “And this was for a movie called ‘Sacramento.’ But it’s like why try to cheat it?
