Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Ken Marino credits his pal Adam Scott for making the unlikely and unexpected “Party Down” revival a reality. “Adam helped guide this and make this happen in a real way,” he tells Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast. “I think everybody in that cast recognized how special it was, and to just kind of go back and to get to do some more, to be with these people again, creatively, it’s a real gift.” The first two seasons of “Party Down” aired on Starz in 2009 and 2010; the revival takes place a decade after the show’s last episode and features the returns of Marino as Ron, the slightly clueless catering manager who now owns the business — well, running it out of his van — and Scott as Henry, the sardonic failed actor who’s now a teacher and working on the side with Party Down to help pay for his alimony.

Two horses have died at Aintree ahead of today's Grand National.
A total of 40 horses competed for the top prize in what was the 175th running of the world-famous steeplechase race. The race was won by Corach Rambler, who was ridden by Derek Fox.
It's not yet clear whether any horses died during the National, the penultimate race of the three-day racing festival which began on Thursday. However, two horses have already died at this year's festival: Envoye Special and Dark Raven.

The Grand National was delayed for 15 minutes after animal rights activists attempted to gain entry to the track this afternoon. Nine people were arrested by police as a result of the disruption.
While the National is watched by millions each year, the protesters sought to draw attention to the dark side of the world famous race. Dozens of horses have lost their lives at Aintree over the years.
Last year saw four horses die over the course of the three-day festival, with two being pronounced dead following the showpiece event. Eclair Surf and Discorama both died after running in the famous steeplechase 12 months ago, with the former suffering a traumatic head injury in a fall and the latter being euthanised after picking up an "untreatable" pelvic injury.
While modern steeplechase races have an average of just over four equine fatalities for every 1,000 horses taking part, according to the British Horseracing Authority, the National's rate is considerably higher, with seven out of 439 horses taking part between 2000 and 2010 dying as a result of their involvement.
