Jim Caviezel’s Faith-Based Thriller ‘Sound of Freedom’ Crosses $100 Million at Box Office

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter “Sound of Freedom,” this summer’s unlikely box office hit, has crossed the $100 million mark in North America after three weeks of release. It’s an impressive milestone for the low-budget, faith-based movie, especially in the height of summer blockbuster season. It also marks the first indie release in post-pandemic times to surpass $100 million at the domestic box office. Last year’s Oscar-winning arthouse smash “Everything Everywhere All at Once” topped $100 million globally, but that included $63 million at the international box office. “Sound of Freedom” isn’t playing overseas. “Sound of Freedom” stands as the 16th-highest grossing North American release of the year. At this rate, the movie looks to keep climbing that list and soon supplant the No. 14 and 15 spots, which currently belong to “Scream VI” with $108 million and “The Flash” with $107 million.

the controversial film “Sound of Freedom” by either forgetting to dim the lights, or in at least one case, turning off the air conditioning in the theater. The word-of-mouth smash hit, which shocked Hollywood by beating the new “Indiana Jones” flick at the box office, tells the real-life story of anti-child-trafficking campaigner and former Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caviezel) as he attempts to set up an organization known as Operation Underground Railroad. The accusations of experience tampering come on the heels of the film being criticized for promoting pro-QAnon conspiracy theories.

This religious thriller has unexpectedly become one of the summer’s biggest movies

Sound Of Freedom – a new religious thriller about a special agent who embarks on a child trafficking case rescue mission – has become an unlikely summer hit.The film, which has also been tangled up in online conspiracy theories, has been a box office success, grossing $85million (£65million).Sound Of Freedom is inspired by the experiences of former Homeland Security Agent Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caviezel), who spent more than a decade breaking up child-trafficking rings.A synopsis for the film reads: “The incredible true story of a former government agent turned vigilante who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hundreds of children from sex traffickers.”The film has been described as a QAnon “adjacent” and “tinged” thriller in The Guardian and Rolling Stone, respectively – referring to the American far-right conspiracy theory that some of the worst’s most powerful political and cultural elite are engaged in trafficking, pedophilia, child abuse and many other unfounded theories.Conspiracy theories related to the film included right-wing speculation that theatre company AMC wanted to sabotage screenings. As the BBC notes, some negative coverage of the film also related to Caviezel seemingly having embraced QAnon theories in the past. The film’s distributor, Angel Studios, denied the film is connected to conspiracy theories, and the CEO of AMC Theatres, Adam Aron, also shut down theories related to the theatre screenings on Twitter. Some viewers have also read Sound Of Freedom as a “faith-based film”.Despite the conspiracy theories surrounding it, the film has performed well at the box office, but reviews have been mixed.Variety described it as “compelling movie that shines an authentic light on one of the crucial

No Stars, No Red Carpets: How Hollywood Strikes Could Disrupt the Summer Box Office

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter For Tom Cruise, one of the most effective ways to sell tickets to blockbusters like “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible” sequels has been recounting the horrors and headaches of performing his own death-defying stunts. In the lead-up to “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” however, Cruise hasn’t been able to talk up the antics of hanging off a runaway train or jumping out of airplanes on late-night shows due to the ongoing writers strike. And now, as the actors join the picket lines against Hollywood film and TV companies, the realm of promotion for upcoming projects is getting a lot narrower. According to SAG-AFTRA guidelines, stars aren’t allowed to appear on daytime shows like “Good Morning America” or “Today,” attend premieres, participate in interviews for completed work or even post about projects on social media while the strike is in effect. Talent is also unable to go to conventions such as San Diego Comic-Con, which is held at the end of July.

Sound Of Freedom Star Jim Caviezel Goes FULL QAnon, Says Trump Was 'Selected By God' To Fight Liberal Blood-Drinking Child Traffickers

Jim Caviezel used to be a proper movie star. He co-starred in movies with Jennifer Lopez and Henry Cavill. He seemed like Hollywood’s next big thing for a minute — solid actor, classic good looks, GREAT eyes. Heck, he starred in one of the highest grossing films of all time, The Passion of the Christ, for Mel Gibson. Now he’s using all that talent to induct more innocent people into the cult of QAnon.
