General Hospital will pay tribute to the late Jacklyn Zeman by honoring her character Bobbie Spencer in two special episodes planned for January.
Viewers will not only learn that Bobbie has died, but the folks of Port Charles will unite to remember their favorite nurse, reports People. Important characters from Bobbie’s past are expected make an appearance in the Jan. 10 and 11 episodes, including Maxie (Kirsten Storms), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Scott (Kin Shriner), Carly (Laura Wright), Ann (Finola Hughes), Lucy (Lynn Herring) and Lucas (Ryan Carnes). Lots of surprises are planned.
Zeman died of cancer in May at the age of 70. She first joined the ABC sudser in 1977 and appeared in more than 800 episodes.
“When we shot the memorial, the entire cast was there. And it wasn’t just for Bobbie; it was for Jackie as well,” Wright told People. “I mean, walking on set and seeing her photo, seeing all the pamphlets of like when you come to a memorial or a celebration of life, the pamphlet speaking about the individual and who is going to speak, it was bittersweet. It was about Jackie and everyone was so present. … It was like we as a cast got to really say goodbye.”
On Jan. 4, General Hospital will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a primetime special, “General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling.”
The special will feature cast members from throughout the years as they pull back the curtain on six decades in Port Charles, including behind-the-scenes moments, bloopers and a special fan tribute.
