Country duo Dan + Shay are making history as the first acts to share a judging spot on an upcoming season of The Voice, and fans have been asking one question since learning the news: How will their chair work?
If you were unfamiliar with the concept of The Voice, the show opens with blind auditions. The judges sit facing away from the talent before deciding if they want them on their team.
In order to express interest, they hit a button to turn their chair around. That’s when it gets even more exciting.
The arrangement has makes plenty sense when there’s only one judge in the seat. However, it had to evolve a little bit to accommodate both Dan and Shay when the show returns for its 25th season in the Spring of 2024!

Luckily, the pair hopped online to offer some insight into their seat.
“It’s two chairs but one button,” Shay explained, with Dan describing it as “the Double Chair.” They also made it clear how excited they were to take over the gig.
Fans who follow The Voice on Instagram have already seen an illustration of the chair, which does indeed feature two chairs and one button. On the bottom is a note that reads “WE WANT YOU.”
While Dan + Shay have already been announced as judges, fans should keep in mind that they have a bit of a wait before their season begins. They’re currently only scheduled to judge the 25th season, and there’s another scheduled to kick off in the Fall of 2023.
Find out all of the new judges for both seasons!

plays the real-life Barbie in the $100 million live-action “Barbie” movie coming to theaters on July 21.Depending on who a Barbie fan believes, however, the genuine, in-the-flesh Barbie who inspired the doll is either the late Barbie Ryan or the now 82-year-old Barbara Handler Segal. The two origin stories could not be more different. Either Barbie exists thanks to one man’s obsession with the “perfect woman” — or because of an apparently sweet story revolving around a mother’s love for her two children. But both come with far darker sides than the innocent child’s toy would suggest, including orgies, sex toys, embezzlement, AIDS, and suicide. The battle over who really inspired Barbie only exploded into the open decades after the doll made her debut at the International Toy Fair in New York in 1959.She was an immediate hit: 11 inches tall, long-legged, slim-waisted, perky-breasted and either blonde or brunette, dressed in a hand-made black and white swimsuit, and soon after advertised on The Mickey Mouse Club.

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International If you ask most people in the U.K. industry how business is going right now, they’ll likely tell you it’s been agonizingly “slow.” It’s meant to be boom time for production, but this summer, the U.S. writers strike combined with a cost of living crisis is brutally squeezing unscripted and scripted projects. This week, as the clock ticks away on negotiations between American actors union SAG-AFTRA and Hollywood’s collective bargaining agent, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the prevailing thought will be: is all of this about to get much worse? A number of British actors Variety has spoken to say they’ve yet to hear from local actors’ union Equity with any guidance about their situation. That’s likely because it’s being worked out in real time. Paul W. Fleming, general secretary for Equity, has been in Los Angeles for discussions with SAG-AFTRA, which is optimistic about its negotiations with the AMPTP. (He’s also visiting New York to meet with theater union Actors’ Equity.)
