Households to begin receiving £650 Cost of Living Payment within weeks

The government has confirmed when the first Cost of Living payments will be made following chancellor Rishi Sunak's announcement of the new support package last month. Eight million homes across the country will start to see the first instalment of the £650 grant hit their bank accounts in just a few weeks.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has rejected a call from Labour MP, Charlotte Nichols, to widen the eligibility scope for the one-off £650 Cost of Living Payment to include people on contribution-based Employment Support Allowance and other non-means tested benefits.
