Welcome back from your slumber and food coma. As you start to raise from your holiday fog (hope you had a merry one), you’ll start to receive bits of information that penetrate your haze.
It’s official— “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has done what no other pandemic-era film has done so far, earning more than $1 billion worldwide. And the film did it in only 12 days.
Spider-Man: No Way Home just keeps getting bigger.
The Sony/Marvel Studios film is now the first film of the pandemic era to hit the $1 billion mark after just 12 days in theaters, tying “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as the third fastest film to hit that milestone in just 11 days in theaters. And unlike “Infinity War,” “No Way Home” was able to do this without a release in China, though Spidey will need a Chinese opening date to have a chance to join “Force Awakens” in the $2 billion club.
Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter“Spider-Man: No Way Home” unwrapped the best Christmas gift of all, becoming the first pandemic-era movie to cross $1 billion at the global box office.Sony’s comic-book epic has eclipsed that milestone in a near-record 12 days, tying with 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as the third-fastest film to reach the billion-dollar benchmark.
As you’ve likely heard by now, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is dominating movie theaters, the box office, and arguably killing all the competition that is severely hurting in comparison. The superhero crossover movie has surpassed the $876 million mark worldwide, is already the highest-grossing film in North American in 2021, with $385 million, and is poised to hit $1 billion on Christmas Day, according to Deadline, which would make it the highest-grossing film of the year worldwide too.
Adding $30 million on Thursday from 4,336 locations, “No Way Home” has a domestic box office total of $386 million and $876 million worldwide, passing the $821 million total of the Chinese film “Hi, Mom” for second place on the global charts for the year.
It's officially Christmas Eve, which means to get all your last minute essentials in a mad rush.
Tom Holland is on top of the world right now. Last weekend, his most recent superhero film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” not only broke seemingly every pandemic-era box office record, but the film went on to have the second biggest worldwide opening weekend of all time, behind only “Avengers: Endgame.” And it would appear that ‘No Way Home’ is going to be the first film to break the $1 billion mark since 2019.
Shoppers have spotted a major high street store selling real Christmas trees for £1.
Earlier this year, Home Bargains announced plans to close every single shop in the UK on Boxing Day.

Each year Boxing Day sales are ever popular with shoppers who are keen to bag a bargain over the festive season.
