James Sutton has confirmed he has split from his wife, Rachael Collin, after five years of marriage.
The Hollyoaks star, 40, best known for playing the iconic role of John Paul McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, first met his wife at Glastonbury Festival eight years ago and the pair returned three years later to tie the knot. But now, the couple have called time on their relationship with James describing their split as "very sad but amicable".
James confirmed the end of their relationship to the Mirror and said: "Rachael and I had a wonderful relationship and marriage. It was very sad but amicable, and we remain friends." A source added: "James and Rachael have enjoyed a really happy marriage but, as many couples can relate to, their relationship became strained during lockdown.

"I was watching this girl pumping up an air bed with a foot pump for about half an hour and I thought, 'I’ve got an electric pump in my bag, I could be a hero here'," he previously told the Sunday Mirror. "So I went over and said, 'Excuse me, do you want to borrow my pump?'".
When they first started dating, Rachael was a postgraduate student and transferred courses to be in Liverpool alongside her beau.
Three years later in 2018 they returned to Glastonbury and tied the knot during a magical ceremony. Sharing a glimpse of their big day, a previous Instagram post that has now been deleted read:
