Police patrols in south Manchester and Trafford will be high profile for several days in a bid to diffuse gangland violence believed to be behind a stabbing and shooting. The move comes after a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back at the Love Factory venue in Manchester city centre on Saturday.
The Manchester Evening News understands the knifing is believed to be linked to a shooting in Trafford last month when a boy of 16 was shot a point blank range. The two incidents are part of a series of tit-for-tat attacks between rival gangs.
The knifing was at about 7.40pm on Saturday while the warehouse, in Danztic Street, was hosting an event. It is being linked to the shooting in the chest of a 16-year-old boy in Stretford. The teenage boy was shot on Langdale Avenue on the afternoon of Thursday August 10th. Police believe he was 'attacked by approximately 14 males' while children were playing in the street.
Today GMP named a suspect wanted in connection with the Love Factory stabbing. In a statement they said: "Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace Ethan Chisnall, 22, who is wanted in connection with a section 18 assault in Manchester on Saturday 2 September 2023. Ethan is known to have links to Trafford, Partington and Manchester.
