A mum addicted to heroin launched into a "frenzied" hammer attack against a vulnerable female victim recovery from breast cancer.
Ria Dodds broke into the woman's house by smashing a window on July 24, 2020 before striking her with a hammer - causing serious injuries to her head.
The 37-year-old had shown up at the woman's home in Consett with her co-accused, Martyn Watson, 33, who stayed outside of the property during the brutal assault.

Dodds was sentenced for grievous bodily harm, theft of a handbag, and two common assaults, with Watson - who appeared via link from HMP Durham - being sentenced for affray and common assault.
Shaun Dryden, prosecuting, said the victim of the July 24 offences was a "vulnerable" woman in her 50s who suffered from "serious health problems", including emphysema.
The court was told the victim was also recovering from breast cancer at the time.
Both Dodds and Watson had previously been living with the woman for weeks before the incident, but were no longer living there at the time of the offences.
Mr Dryden said the pair turned up to the woman's home at around 8.30pm, with Watson claiming he had left clothing at the property.
Watson was trying to gain entry into the front of the home, while Dodds went to the rear of the property.
Watson lied to the victim, telling her that he was with his mum at the time, but when he was refused entry he "put his hand through the letterbox" and "began making threats of violence".
Meanwhile, Dodds was in the back garden of the home in
