Herb Stempel, the contestant on NBC's Twenty-One who helped expose the rigged television quiz shows of the 1950s after he was "defeated" by Charles Van Doren, has died. He was 93.

NEW YORK -- Herbert Stempel, a fall guy and whistleblower of early television whose confession to deliberately losing on a 1950s quiz show helped drive a national scandal and join his name in history to winning contestant Charles Van Doren, has died age 93.

Herb Stempel, the federal whistleblower who exposed how the NBC game show “Twenty-One” was manipulated for ratings, died last month at the age of 93. His death was confirmed this weekend by Stempel’s stepdaughter to The New York Times.

LOS ANGELES -- The only misconduct attached to the 1999-2002 run of ABC's “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” was the network's decision to milk the hit quiz show by airing it night after night until it crashed in the ratings.

Following the death of Terrace House star Hana Kimura, production of the latest season of the show has been canceled. The actor and professional wrestler died last weekend.

The theater world experienced an astronomical loss on May 27, when it was announced that iconic playwright Larry Kramer had passed away. Kramer, 84, was a treasured writer, a tireless gay rights activist, and the founder of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, and organization founded in the 1980s to assist those with HIV/AIDs when nobody else would.

Richard Herd has sadly died at the age of 87.

Kara Keough revealed on Sunday, May 24, that she got her first tattoo in honor of her son, McCoy, who died in childbirth.
