Derek Fowlds, star of Heartbeat and Yes Minister has died aged 82, his family have said.
The London-born actor played the role of Oscar Blaketon for 18 years in the long-running ITV police drama Heartbeat.
His character first appeared as the local police sergeant and later retired to run the village post office.
Fowlds is also known for playing Bernard Woolley in Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
The star also spent four years on the kids TV show The Basil Brush Show as Mr Derek.
