Naman Ramachandran “Escape From Kabul Airport,” a documentary airing on BBC Two in September, will tell the inside story of the 18 days in August 2021, when the U.S. withdrew its troops from Afghanistan, and the subsequent evacuation of thousands of Afghan citizens from Kabul airport after the Taliban seized the city. The documentary is an Amos production for the BBC, in association with HBO and in collaboration with Arte France. It is produced by Emmy and BAFTA-winning Dan Reed (“Leaving Neverland”) and directed by Jamie Roberts (“Four Hours At The Capitol”). The film combines never before seen on-the-ground archival footage from the evacuation, alongside interviews with evacuees, eye-witnesses, U.S. Marines and Taliban fighters.

Disney’s D23 Expo will kick off next month with a presentation of this year’s class of Disney Legends, the roster of which was announced today. Per the company, “The Disney Legends Award is given to an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the Disney legacy.”

“Black Panther” star, the late Chadwick Boseman, “Grey’s Anatomy” actress Ellen Pompeo, and “black-ish” alum Tracee Elliss Ross are among the 2022 Disney Legends Honorees set to be honored at this year’s D23 Expo.Also being honored are Anthony Anderson, Kristen Bell, Rob’t Coltrin, Patrick Dempsey, Robert Price “Bob” Foster, Jonathan Groff, Don Hahn, Josh Gad, Doris Hardoon, Idina Menzel and Chris Montan, at a ceremony hosted by Tamron Hall.The Disney Legends Award is given to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the Disney legacy. The awards have been given away for 35 years.
