Wolfgang Puck has cooked up a deal with HBO Max. The celebrity chef is to front and exec produce an eight-part unscripted series for the forthcoming streaming service.
The platform has ordered The Event, an unscripted documentary series that will go behind the scenes of the extraordinary events created by Wolfgang Puck Catering and legendary restaurateur Wolfgang Puck.
The hour-long series will be produced by Naked and Afraid producer Renegade
HBO Max has acquired U.S. rights to Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering’s documentary On the Record. The film presents the stories of several women who have accused producer Russell Simmons of sexual assault, including music executive Drew Dixon.
Wolfgang Puck is gearing up for the Governors Ball following the 2020 Oscars. The chef is catering the official post-Academy Awards celebration for the 26th time, but this year’s feast will be decidedly different — and feature an array of vegan options.
Following a thunderstorm of Oprah Winfrey-related controversy and a successful Sundance Film Festival premiere, “On the Record” has secured domestic distribution at HBO Max.

AT&T’s top line was stung by its investment in HBO Max in the fourth quarter of 2019 to the tune of $1.2 billion in “foregone licensing revenues.” The telco also continued to see rapid deterioration in its pay-TV business, losing a total of nearly 1.2 million subscribers in Q4.
Rosario Dawson has been cast as the lead in the upcoming HBO Max pilot “DMZ,” which has Ava DuVernay on board as a director and Roberto Patino in place as writer-showrunner.
