Harvey Weinstein refused to pay Kevin Smith royalties for their 1994 movie Clerks, the filmmaker has alleged.
The 49-year-old sold his first movie to the 68-year-old disgraced film producer at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival, when Weinstein ran distribution and production company Miramax.
He reportedly paid US$227,000 for the movie, but they agreed that Smith could receive a backend financial share after its release if the film became profitable.
