Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has said although his cancer treatment is working, he has noticed several side effects - both painful and unusual. The Geordie chef, 64, who says he's now embraced baldness, revealed he would be starting chemotherapy in May during a segment on his Agony Uncles podcast, which he does with Hairy Biker pal Si King, 55. He told listeners: "I've got to come clean now.
I haven’t been too well recently and, basically, I’ve got to have some chemo. "I may be a baldy biker for a while it’s simply something I have to live with. I don’t want to make a fuss about it, I look alright bald actually." Two months on from his decision to go public with his illness, Dave spoke to Kate Thornton on her White Wine and Question Time podcast.
In the rare interview, the 64 year old explained doctors only picked up on his cancer after he had complained about "certain bits and bobs". He said: "At the minute I'm going through treatment for cancer and it's like another chapter. "I went to the doctors complaining of certain bits and bobs and the next thing I know I got a phone and told it's a tumour and I'm going to have chemotherapy." Dave added that although his treatment is doing the trick, he does suffer from a few side effects.
He said: "Fortunately, the chemo is working but it's the effect chemotherapy has on you. Everyday is a school day. "My eyes are sore because my eyelashes have fallen out – it's c**p like that that's really irritating.
But I'm getting there. I've got to go in tomorrow for another lot. I'm just getting through it." Discussing the last few months since his diagnosis he added: "I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
