After the Sun ran an exposé on people who claimed from the furlough scheme, Tom and Giovanna Fletcher have issued a statement explaining why they did it.

WalesOnline has reported that the famous couple had allegedly received up to £30,000 from the government furlough scheme not long after Giovanna was crowned Queen of the Castle for the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, which took place at Gwrych Castle in Conwy. On Tuesday, the pair issued the same statement on their Instagram accounts and apologised that they used the furlough scheme but denied the figure claimed was for £30,000.

The couple described their decision to use the government's coronavirus job retention scheme as a "huge error of judgement" and apologised. Author Giovanna, 36, and Tom, 35, issued a joint statement on Tuesday, apologising for the move though insisting the financial figures reported were incorrect.
