Heavy rain is expected to fall on Manchester and around the North West - with a string of flood warnings in force. Areas including Warrington and the Lancashire coast have been hit by a number of flood warnings by the Environment Agency today (March 13).
It comes as the North West is braced for downpours throughout much of the day. The Met Office says Manchester will see heavy rain until 11am this morning.
Light rain is expected to follow at lunchtime, before downpours return at around 3pm until around 8pm. Further heavy rain is expected to fall overnight.

Temperatures in the city are set to reach a high of 13C and a low of 10C. Similar rainy conditions are also forecast elsewhere in Greater Manchester, but temperatures could be slightly cooler away from the city, between 11C and 9C in some areas.
Elsewhere in the North West, several amber flood alerts and red flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency. As of 8am, there are three red flood warnings on the Mersey Estuary in Warrington - at Fiddlers Ferry, Arpley Bridge and Victoria Park.
The Mersey Estuary in Warrington, Halton and the Wirral is also hit by an amber flood alert, along with the Dee Estuary in Chester and the Wirral, and the Irish Sea near Heswall. Meanwhile, there are two red flood warnings in Lancashire - around Sunderland Point, near Lancaster, and the Wyre Estuary at Thornton.
Three amber flood alerts are also in place at the Lune Estuary near Lancaster, on the coast from Heysham to Cockerham, and the Wyre Estuary near Fleetwood. Six flood alerts are also in place in Cumbria, along with two red flood warnings near Grange-over-Sands and Carlisle.
