GOP-led Senate again blocks $2,000 stimulus check vote

There’s a theory spreading around social media that Casey Affleck was the person who threw out the cardboard cut-out of Ana de Armas, but it’s not true.

A man in Idaho used part of his stimulus money to leave a generous tip at a local restaurant.  Gramercy Park Pizza & Grill in Meridian, Idaho, posted about the tip on Facebook earlier this week.  The anonymous man left a $600 tip on a $108.50 meal, even though the restaurant already includes an 18% tip on the ticket total, according to a picture of the receipt.  The man also left a note on the receipt, saying that he wanted to share some of his remaining stimulus money with the restaurant.

Michael Cusack was an athlete with Down syndrome who won a gold medal in freestyle swimming at the first Special Olympics in 1968.While growing up in Chicago, Cusack began participating in a sports program for children with intellectual disabilities. He was the first student to join the program, impressing his coaches with his athletic abilities and inspiring others to join.

If there’s something Clay Aiken has in common with Donald Trump, it’s knowing that he was once just a few thousand votes away from winning the biggest competition of his life. Clay, 42, mocked the president on Twitter after hearing his ill-fated phone call with the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which he begged him to “find” him more votes.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell again blocked a quick action on $2,000 coronavirus stimulus checks on the Senate floor Thursday as he traded harsh words with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. McConnell, R-Ky., in floor remarks lambasted the House-passed bill for $2,000 stimulus checks as "socialism for rich people." The comments were his most direct to date on his opposition to President Trump's request that stimulus checks be boosted from $600 in the recently passed stimulus.
