Kel Mitchell, co-star with Kenan Thompson of the upcoming Good Burger 2 comedy, is back home and recovering after a “genuinely frightening time” in the hospital earlier this week.
Mitchell did not identify the reason for the trip to the emergency room nor the nature of his illness or injury in an Instagram message posted late last night.
“Grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surrounded me during a genuinely frightening time,” Mitchell wrote. “The scare was real, but so was the support. With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family. Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you enough. Much love to each of you.”
Mitchell’s trip to a Los Angeles-area hospital went public Tuesday night when TMZ reported that he had been admitted to the facility following a trip to the emergency room.
The former Kenan & Kel star, now 45, is reteaming with his longtime co-star, Saturday Night Live‘s Thompson, on the upcoming sequel to the duo’s 1997 comedy Good Burger. Paramount+ has set a Thanksgiving week release for Good Burger 2, with the comedy premiering Wednesday, November 22, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S and Canada, on Thursday, November 23 on Paramount+ in the UK and Australia. The film will also be available in additional Paramount+ international markets shortly after.
Both Mitchell and Thompson appeared on stage during the Good Burger 2 panel at recent New York Comic Con on October 15 in New York City.
