‘Golden Girls’ House for Sale for $3 Million – But It’s Not in Miami

New films from Tilda Swinton and Regina King will be headlining the Venice Film Festival this September.

The Venice Film Festival just got a bit more star power. As is common during the lead-up to festivals, the Italian event has augmented its offering of films with a couple of projects featuring some superstar talent, including Tilda Swinton, Pedro Almodovar, and Regina King.

Ahead of its TIFF debut, Amazon Studios has picked upRegina King’s feature directorial debutOne Night in Miami, with plans to release it as an awards contender. Based on the 2013 stage play by Kemp Powers, the movie is set on the night of February 25, 1964, and follows a young Cassius Clay (Eli Goree)— before he became Muhammad Ali— as he emerges from the Miami Beach Convention Center the new World Heavyweight Boxing Champion.

Slowly, but surely awards season and the movie business is being to percolate once more. After being included in the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival line-up this morning, the period drama “One Night in Miami” has been acquired by Amazon Studios for a release in the “awards corridor” later this year.
