The largest ice rink in the UK has reportedly opened in Glasgow ahead of the Christmas season at the Elfingrove winter festival.
The festive event, which earned five-star reviews for its 2021 edition, opened to the public on November 24. The team behind Elfingrove aimed to make this year's festival "bigger, snowier and glowier than ever".
As well as having a huge ice rink, the event will also include the UK's first ever 'snow wheel'. A ride will allow visitors to gaze at Glasgow's own winter wonderland from a height.
Additionally, the festivities will include Skate Side Dining - a unique restaurant with table service and views over the ice rink - and the Apres Skate Bar, a chilled out venue serving up street food classics with a festive twist.
Visitors can also head to Candyland to enjoy candy floss, ice cream sundaes, ice blasts, and more.
This year, organisers have added brand new skating sessions, including a skate school for adults and kids and an adults-only 'Late Skates' session.
There are also 'Skate with Santa' sessions where little ones can meet Santa and his elves on the ice, as well as quiet sessions for autistic people and anyone with special or complex needs.
There is also a small dedicated toddler rink off of the main ice rink where children under five can slide and glide safely accompanied by an adult.
Creator of Elfingrove and itison CEO Oli Norman, said: "It takes a team of over 150 people to make Elfingrove happen. In a year of doom and gloom our mission is to light up our home city and bring joy, and we are so excited to do that with Elfingrove.
"We are also bringing back our E.L.Fund which will distribute 4,000 free tickets to local groups and charities who may otherwise not have been able to attend."
