Wolf was one of the most formidable characters on hit 90s show Gladiators when it was at its prime, recognisable with his curly mane of hair and steely stare. Fast-forward to 2022 and the actor-bodybuilder who played him, Michael Van Wijk, 69, looks a lot different from his show heyday, with a shaved head and a life far removed from the UK. In what may be a surprise to some, Michael is also different to his iconic ruthless character, and is famously nice in real life.
He now lives in New Zealand, but he clearly still loves bodybuilding as he's set up a number of gyms in the country. The almost 70 year old shows no sign of slowing down as he often posts snaps of his bulging muscles and ripped physique, as well as his strict diet, to his Instagram page. In one such post, Michael wrote: "Apparently there is a memo going around the world that as you get older you lose muscle mass, strength, agility ,speed etc....etc...
I never got the memo." He spoke on GB News about his Gladiators career, saying: "Let me tell you it was a wonderful time in our lives. "I’d done a bit of acting before Gladiators and a few people would notice you. But after Gladiators it all became crazy.
"Even now when I get back home and come through the airport the customs guys put their thumbs up and everyone wants a photo. The recognition is still there which is nice.” Gladiators was one of the most iconic shows of the 90s, and it ran for eight years, from 1992 to 2000. Hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu, the programme saw members of the public attempt to battle it out against bodybuilders and gymnasts. The show is set to make its grand return to television in 2023, where it will air an 11-episode series on BBC.

Pop Idol's Michelle McManus looked completely different as she revealed her new funky hairstyle.
Jason Momoa is giving fans a fresh glimpse of his bold new look. The actor, who has long been known for his lengthy locks, recently teased a dramatic change in his signature hairstyle when he shaved the sides of his head in an effort to draw attention to the environmental harm of single-use plastics, documenting some of the haircut on Instagram. Now, he's showing off the full look, which includes a tribal tattoo on the side of his head. " comin', baby!" he shouts at the camera in a new Instagram reel, cheekily removing his hat as he boards an airplane. The 43-year-old declares that he's «Proud to be Hawaiian» in the clip, as he holds a pink carry-on bag, aluminum water bottle and shares that he's flying via Hawaiian Airlines to New Zealand. Momoa kept the top of his hair long, pulling it back in a bun, but shaved both sides of his head.
