Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible 7 have been delayed as cases of COVID-19 continue to surge.The highly-anticipated sequel, which sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as Maverick, will now release in cinemas on May 27, 2022, instead of November 19, 2021.Mission: Impossible 7 has been pushed back to September 30, 2022, four months after its original slated release on May 27, 2022.

“Mission: Impossible 7,” which had been slated for release next year on Memorial Day weekend, has been moved to September 30, 2022 while “Top Gun: Maverick” moves to that Memorial Day slot from a previous spot on November 19. “Jackass Forever” will move from October 2 to February 4, 2022.

Tom Cruise stuck his neck out for his co-star. Back in 1986, the Hollywood icon starred as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in "Top Gun" alongside Val Kilmer, who played his rival, Tom "Iceman" Kazansky.The two played students at an elite Naval aviation school.

People that Cruise, 59, “really wanted” Kilmer to be part of the action film despite his health struggles. Kilmer, 61, was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2017 and underwent radiation and chemotherapy.

When Paramount announced plans to make a sequel to “Top Gun,” fans had some immediate questions. First, and perhaps foremost, is there going to be another volleyball scene? The answer might have to wait until we see the film on the big screen.
