“They hit [Floyd] with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,” Kanye said. “They said he screamed for his mama; mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary.”
The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office ruled Floyd‘s death was a homicide caused by “cardiopulmonary arrest,” complicated by “restraint and neck compression” while he was being subdued by police.
Derek Chauvin pled guilty to federal charges for violating Floyd’s civil rights by using unreasonable force and ignoring his serious medical needs.
Kanye also dismissed Floyd’s cries for his mother, which was captured on video. “They said he screamed for his mama — Mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary,” claimed Kanye.
Civil rights attorney Lee Merritt said the Floyd family “is considering suit for (Ye’s) false statements about the manner of (Floyd’s) death,” according to a statement shared on Twitter.
“Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight,” Lee Merritt added.
Kanye also recently made headlines when he agreed to buy the conservative media platform Parler, although terms of the deal were not disclosed.
